Who can become an ACE Family Host?
We welcome Host Families whether you have children, you're retired, working or single. There is no requirement for you to be a 'family' in the conventional sense. The unifying factor is the willingness to provide a warm, homely environment where ACE students are treated as family members.
The students are out all day, making it ideal to fit around work or family life. The students want to learn English, therefore speaking a foreign language is not a requirement.
ACE work in partnership with their Host Families. We provide full support throughout the students' visit, so that Host Families can be confident in the knowledge that all their queries are answered.
Why become a host for ACE students?
Although a Host Family role is a paid one, for our Hosts it is much more than just financial reward. The right Host can really make a difference to the experience for a young person while they are away from home in the UK. We have many students who have formed a lifelong bond with their Host Families, which is extremely rewarding.
Many of our students are French speaking, however our Hosts are not expected to speak a foreign language, as they are a real link with the British culture. They provide a welcoming environment in which the students, sometimes their first foreign visit, feel free to
experiment with their knowledge of the language, knowing that their Host Family will understand and bypass any mistakes they may make.
